Shane F. Weir

Mr. Weir qualified as a solicitor, barrister and notary public in Canada in 1978. He established the firm in March 1985. He was admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales and in Hong Kong in 1992. He has lectured in both Canada and Hong Kong at university level. He currently practises in commercial, property and banking law with an emphasis on securities.

Mr. Weir is an active member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Hong Kong Industries, The Canadian Chamber of Commerce, The Law Society of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Computer Society. He is also Hong Kong's national president of the World Jurist Association and in addition to acting as legal adviser for numerous corporations and associations in Hong Kong and abroad, he also sits in the Executive Committee of the Management and Technology Committee of The Law Society of Hong Kong, the IT Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the IT Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Recently he served as an appointee of the Law Society to the Provisional Board to consider the future of Hong Kong domain names registration (".hk").

Cheonghar Wong

Ms Wong was born and educated in the United Kingdom and has been practising in Hong Kong since 1987. Prior to joining Weir & Associates, Ms Wong was, for a period of six years, with one of the largest law firms in Asia. She was in the litigation team and appeared for many of the major financial institutions and large construction groups in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and Swire Properties, and therefore, has therefore considerable experience in litigation. Ms Wong was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (1985) and Hong Kong (1987). She was also admitted as a barrister and solicitor in Canberra, Australia (1990) and Singapore (1993) and is a Notary Public in Hong Kong.

Ms Wong handles a wide range of legal work from general litigation to commercial/corporate matters, bankruptcy, conveyancing, and criminal litigation.

Ricky W. C. Lo

Mr. Lo was born and educated in Hong Kong. He was admitted a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1997 with an established practice in commercial, civil and criminal litigation. Mr. Lo also possesses wide experience in personal injuries and defamation matters. In September 2001, he was appointed a Partner of the firm.

Arthur B. Crook

Mr. Crook was born and raised in Canada. After earning his B.A. from the University of Winnipeg in 1981, Mr. Crook obtained his LL.B. in 1988 from the University of Toronto. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1991 and the Hong Kong Bar in 1994. Mr. Crook is in charge of the immigration division. He also handles corporate and commercial matters. He is a member of the Law Society of Hong Kong, as well as the Law Society of Upper Canada.

N.T.S. Kularatne

Mr. Kularatne was born and educated in Sri Lanka . He was admitted in Sri Lanka in 1968 as an Advocate and commanded a wide practice for 22 years in both original and appellate courts. He has practised in Hong Kong since 1990 and is engaged in civil/commercial litigation and corporate/commercial work. He is admitted in Sri Lanka , England and Hong Kong . He has also lectured in Business Law both in Sri Lanka and in Hong Kong .

Wai Yin Chung

Ms. Chung was born in Hong Kong and educated in United Kingdom. She was admitted as a solicitor of Hong Kong SAR in 2006. Before entering the legal profession, Wai Yin worked for a leading telecommunication company as In-House Legal Officer. Wai Yin's particular interest lies in the areas of IP, Commercial Litigation, and Personal Injuries.

Mr. Wadley was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland, Australia in 1984. He was educated and practiced in Australia for over 17 years before commencing practice in China in 2001. He was admitted as a Foreign Lawyer in Hong Kong in 2004.

He currently practises in the area of Business Law including: Banking, Public Company Listings, Finance, Media and Entertainment, IP, IT, Securities, Taxation, Telecoms, Trademarks, Trusts and Estates, Natural Resource Law (Mining/Oil and Gas), and Investment.

Mr. Wong was born in Hong Kong. He completed his LL.B. and PCLL at City University of Hong Kong. He also received an HBA degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, double majoring Economics and Industrial Relations. Brett Braude

Through our Macau affiliate and US Counsel, Mr. Brett Braude, we rely on a legal practice group in Macau with broad experience as one of the leading real estate and casino/hotel development firm advisors.

Mr. Braude, qualified as a lawyer in New York and Washington, has been involved in cross border real estate transactions in North America, on behalf of International and Asian investors, and in Macau and Shanghai (Golden Sail Building, North Bund-Sinochem project, Tompson Golf Villas) since 1997. He has acted of Counsel for Bryan Cave and with Altheimer & Gray and more recently working with our associates in Macau.

Mr. Braude represents leading international banks, casino and hotel groups, investment funds and local developers (e.g. Fisherman's Wharf, Landmark, Greek Mythology, Emperor Group) on some of the largest real estate acquisition and development projects yet seen in Macau. Our Macau associates oversee land title issues, diligence, structuring, financing, permitting and construction issue.
