Do you live in a block of flats?

The management office at your building should have kept a proper record of who had gained entry into the building and your apartment. You should make a report to the Police as your apartment has been broken in. A break-in is a criminal offence. Depending upon the outcome of Police investigation, you can further negotiate with the landlord for change of locks. For security reason, you may consider changing the locks at your expenses and make claim against the landlord after you have made a report to the Police. Depending upon the terms of the tenancy agreement, you may be required to change back the old lock when you move if the landlord refuses to pay for new locks.

    hope this helps.
